Hello and welcome! I'm so glad you're here.
My name is Traci, and I am a wife and mama from the small town of Newton, Kansas.
The mission of Everyday Berean is to encourage women to know and love the Word of God in every season - and here's why this is such a burden on my heart:
I came to salvation at a young age and had read much of the Bible by the time I was an adult. When I was 20, one of my sisters invited me to attend a Bible study with her, and it was at this point that I began to realize that I didn’t really know or understand what I was reading. In all of my years as a Christian, I had never learned how to study the Bible, and therefore came to rely too heavily on what others taught, without checking it against the truth of God’s Word. When I would listen to someone teach, if something felt off, I couldn’t have told you what it was. But as I learned to study the Scriptures for myself, I began to be able to discern the error of various teachers I had grown up learning from. I began to realize that many of the verses they frequently used were being taken completely out of context and didn’t actually mean what I had been taught.
Through this experience I have learned how important it is for us as Christians to know God’s Word for ourselves, rather than simply taking others’ word for what it says. I long to be like the Bereans, who “received the word with eagerness and examined the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so,” (Acts 17:11). If they, without the easy access to the Scriptures that I have, could spend time in daily study, surely I ought to have the same heart to study the Word of God with faithfulness & diligence.
It is common for me to hear excuses about not having the time, the resources, the knowledge, etc. to read or study the Bible, but friend, we can do better. I'm here to tell you that you can learn to study well. You can understand what the Bible has to say for yourself. As a busy mama of little ones myself, I want you to know that you do have the time, and I'm excited to help you find it.
